Before I discovered a number of fabulous blogs about design, I had no idea what "ikat" was and honestly when I first saw it, I didn't like it at all but it's actually really growing on me. So much so, that I just bought some ikat fabric today to re-upholster a chair.
The people at this particular fabric store probably think I'm really weird because I go in every couple of weeks and spend about an hour looking at all the fabric and never purchase anything. Finally, today I made my first purchase! After much debate in my mind of course. I took a really long time mainly because my intuition tells me one thing and then I doubt myself. I just need to be confident in my initial thought of what I like and what I think other people would like.
One of the main reasons why I like ikat is because it's funky and has a sort of organic feel to it. I think a lot of people in Austin would be drawn to the ikat look. Do you think ikat will be timeless or do you think it is on it's "way out" of style like design sponge said?
